Andy, why are you so convinced that a wider blade will do anything for you?
What make of chanter are you playing?

the standards ive used or so manny years i love ridge cut design reeds
their bigger wider and more powerfull sounding than the standards
the broad range of the scale is better sounding the sound box is awsome
sounding
i have a load of bagpies ranging from david naill, macallum kintail and so
manny others and day to day its what should i use now
today it was the david naill full silver set dn6 in thistle design !
Now adays you can get a nice full sound using a variety of chanter / reed combo's.

NO they're not. Troy reeds are popularly referred to as "moulded".
