It definitely is hard to choose in the end what your ONE instrument will have. Personally, its way to hard to choose what I want on my personal drums... so I find myself making something, and turning it over soon after because I just need something else...

The best thing is that seeing things such as the following stirs interest and ideas that hopefully your custom idea you maybe had in the shoe box or in your head grows and you can come to us with a finalized idea YOU come up with. It's always nice to take a dream from someone and make it reality.

Just another pleasure that custom can bring to the customer in the end.

I wish I could bring myself to doing such a thing... but I cant...

The Pearl export drums were known for their wraps that were held on only by the metal hardware. I won't mention who- but some of the big brand companies that pipe bands currently use have created such products that are based around the same idea.

To cut costs, drum companies have went into using cheap tape strips to hold the wrap around a shell, and the hardware to keep it in place.
NM Custom Drums wants the wrap to be a part of the drum, and we use a cement compound to make the wrap one with the shell. So, it's virtually adding a ply to the shell.. Rather than having an air gap between the shell and wrap.

In the world of sound proofing, the air gap between walls acts as a space to kill sound before the waves hit the second wall... well we don't want that in drum shells! The shell needs to resonate freely, and not be lost in an air gap...

I was tossing around the idea of asking if the wraps can be sent out and fitted on arrival. I guess if it's part of the shell, than that's not possible.

I can't say its not possible- but I strongly suggest making the wrap 'one' with the shell. We can always bring in wraps, cut it to spec, and apply the high- bond tape and send it out... I don't think that would be a problem...
