I agree with you that if drummers and pipers do not have access to solo competitions because of geography, isolation, cost etc. then by all means use what ever "reality" competition and "assessment" service that is available to advance your knowledge of pipe band music. We are fortunate in the central belt of Scotland, we have access to every available solo contest, seminar,demonstration, concert etc. I suppopse the same adrenaline and excitement will run through your body whether you compete "live" or "reality". I would be quite happy to help any drummer further their knowledge of music. Just ask. I still prefer live competitions for my pupils. Kaily
