Default YouTube Demos

In response to requests, I've started putting on demo pieces for Skypers and other pupils. These will build up as more tunes are learned.
The idea is that if a pupil, after the lesson, forgets how the tune goes, and isnt a strong music reader, they can log on and see the tune played.

Here's the link

http://www.youtube.com/user/Heed229?feature=mhee

Should a pupil wish a tune recorded, or in a particular style, I'll stick it on. Most old favourites should be there in a few months

My Youtube instructional channel can now be accessed straight from www.GreatGlenPiping.com

Just visit the home page, and a link can be found under "Teaching"

Tracks are mainly stuff that pupils are on at any particular time. Requests can be considered, keep them clean!

Thanks, Rob. I'm trying to focus more on the teaching and tourism, and actually have another domain name registered for the tourism, but I need to sort out how much longer I have to do my present job for before I can go for it. Can't wait actually.

Dear all,

Just stuck 15 more tracks on the youtube channel, for a band I'm instructing at the moment. A lot of the standard stuff there, all welcome to use it.

Channel, just for your info again, is Heed 229

Thumbs up

Very nice channel Heed.

If I may chip in - I find YouTube excellent for keeping the momentum of pipers going inbetween practices.

If your band hasn't got a YouTube channel yet, then make one now! It costs nothing and is there whenever you want it. If you don't want your videos for all the world to see, it is as simple as clicking one button so only those with a link can see it.

That's what I do for the band I play in. I record the tunes (sometimes at two or three different tempos) and after 5 minutes in Windows movie maker, I can add notes at points which need a bit of attention. For example, if there's a phrase which people rush, you can add a caption saying "don't rush here!!!".

The videos give people something to practice with, for them it's just like being at practice, but they can do it whenever. That way, you can be quite sure that they are practicing correctly during the week.

Thanks, Neil, much appreciated!

When I decide to 'step out' on learning Struan Robertson's Salute I'm working on Green Hills and Glasgow City Police Pipers. Very handy to have the extra support.

When I graduated university in 2003, a week in Scotland was my reward from my wife. I'm in graduate school now, graduating 2014 (man that is a long time from now....) and hoping a return trip to Scotland will be my reward for that. If it works out we'll be chatting with you about that. The standard tour was fine as far as it goes but would be much more interested in your tourism options!

Thank you!

Excellent stuff Neil. I've been browsing and listening for a bit now. Always handy when the feeds come through on FB. Here for those that haven't "liked" the GG FB page http://www.facebook.com/GreatGlenPiping
