Default keltic reeds

Ive just recieved some Keltic's from Steve some wi Brass staples and some wi copper staples for our band to try. And 1st impresions are very good both have a good crisp bright sound it will take a week or so to settle but Im very positive in my thoughts that they will be good. The band plays shepherd classic chanters I have replaced my shepherd reed with 1 of the copper stapled reeds. I will post back in a couple of weeks with a progress report. Many thanks Steve you are a gent to do buisness with.

Well thats week 1 up. Ive had my trials and tribulations blowing the reed in but its getting there!! I am no longer with the band but kept 1 reed so I can keep the updates coming. It is now in a warnock chanter and doing very well the top hand is showing good promise plenty volumne and its steady between Low g and High g not much rumbles from my drones. My method is to give the reed a wee dip in a glass of water (tip from redneck) shaking the excess of before I play and after before I put the protector on. I'm playing my pipes 3 times a week minimum.

Good on ye mucker.......once the reed has settled ya can do without the wadder..........use Grouse instead lol.

Maybe by now after the amounta blowin' yer givin' it ya can knock the wadder on the head m8.
Steve may suggest otherwise, but if it's goin' the way you say it's probably bedded in m8.

Thumbs up

The watering of the reed is well and truley finnished and the reed is well settled in the chanter now. Its producing a nice bright sound with good volumne and remaining steady between the top and bottom hand. It is now in a band mccallum chanter which btw seems to be the right combo.
