I have had experience with both company's customer services and both should be proud of their great work.
As to a drummer speaking for a PM regarding the quality of pipes, he spoke out of turn. We have all done it. Everyone step back with your pitchforks and buckets of tar. He apologized and I feel certain he won't make the same mistake again. Down, boys! That being said, at the level that many of us pipe...I'm including myself here...PRACTICE, hard work and control are what make us sound better, not the better set of pipes between 2 quality instruments. We're not comparing 1911 Hendersons with some pipes I made on a lathe in my shed. Both pipemakers have proven themselves on the field of...I almost said battle (must stop watching war movies before bed!)....competition.

I have a set of Dunfion bagpipes(beaded and combed) I just love to play. The problem is, that I never hear anyone talk about this brand and was wondering why. Here in the states i know of one store that sells them and that's it. I have had my pipes for about 10 years and had no problems

So the issue was a loose slide, eh?
To put it into perspective, a little over a year ago I aquired a c1900 Lawrie set. All four slides were loose. I could have just left them be, after all they're merely decorative. But it made it difficult to polish the metal, so I glued all four slides into place. This only took a few minutes to do. Was I disappointed with my vintage Lawrie purchase? Not at all! I was delighted. And if I got a new set and a slide was loose I'd just glue it and carry on. |
