Grade 1 drum corps results

First off, we have completed the Grade 1 Piping Results as far as we can go it seems. 2,228 results, or about 90% of the Estimated total. In getting down to the early years, it was more difficult to retreave information and Jeannie Campbell of the College of Piping Museum discovered that the Colleges inventory of early magazines wasn't as complete as she thought.

With that project over, we are turning our attention to the Drum Corps. A seemingly neglected aspect of all Pipe Bands, but an important one. As with the Piping Results, we will be laying out the Drum Corps results in the same format, but one addition. We have decided to give a nod to the leader of the Drum Corps for each Competition Result. At first I was going to list the band and then the Drum Major. Not being of the piping Fraternity, I had to be given a quick lesson on the lead drum position and it's evolution up to Drum Major. The title seems to be different in many bands, so we have settled on Drum Leader.

This is where we're looking for some help. Hopefully there are a few Drum Corps Groupies out there who have been collecting information and results over the years, not knowing what to do with it. If anyone has any Grade 1 Drum Corps results along with who lead the group at that particular time, we'd like to hear from you. I am also trying to establish when the Drum Corps we treated separately when it came to prizes. I know that the Champion of Champions Competition began in 1960, but that the Drum Corps did not get separate recognition until 1987. If anyone has any similiar history for the other Major Competitons, we'd like to hear from you.
