Smile Piping Cruise to the Caymans 2012 - Come join us!!! - CLOSED

Come one come all - the Father of Waters Pipes and Drums is now sponsoring the 4th annual piping and drumming cruise in January 2012. Details about a special early saver bonus are following:

If you or anyone you know are thinking of perhaps joining the Father of Waters Pipes and Drums on the next PIPING CRUISE, which leaves New Orleans on board the Carnival Conquest on January 15th, 2012 bound for Montego Bay, Jamaica-- Georgetown, Grand Cayman Islands-- and Cozumel, Mexico, there is something you should know, NOW!!

Carnival is offering a special early booking bonus of $150 per cabin ( $75 per passenger) FREE onboard credit ( which will be put on your Sail & Sign card) if you book the cruise prior to the end of July.

So, if you know anyone who may be interested in going with us on this next Piping and Drumming Cruise, please let them know of this special offer.

And you read that right-- we will be bringing a DRUMMING instructor on this next cruise. Not just one, but TWO drumming instructors-- one for snare and bass drum, and one for tenor drum. The drumming instructor is none other than Gordon Bell, from the prestigious Balmoral School of Piping and Drumming. George Balderose will again be our piping instructor.

So start passing the word to everyone-- time is running out to take advantage of this early booking bonus of $150 per cabin. Just call Carnival Cruise Lines at (800) 764-7419 and book your cabin now. Be sure to tell them to link you to John Griffith's booking number so you will be seated with our group for dinner. My booking number is 130HG5.

For more info, just email or call JB Griffith (our band manager) at (601) 480-7225.
If you shoot and miss, at least you gave it a try!

Sounds like fun. How 'bout some more information?

Is this your band's event or Carnival's?

What events are planned for the cruise? seminars? lessons? concerts? all of the above?

What's the cost?

Surely the total cost isn't just $150. Do you not mean $150 per day??

UPDATE on the 2012 PIPING & DRUMMING CRUISE...........

The $150 per cabin referred to a special that Carnival Cruise Lines was promoting, assuming that you booked the cruise at the regular fare. That promotion has since expired.

HOWEVER, they are now actually advertising some reduced rates that are better than that special. So call Carnival now at (800) 764-7419 and inquire about the cruise on the Carnival CONQUEST leaving New Orleans, LA on January 15th bound for Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. This is a 7 day cruise, returning to New Orleans on Jan. 22nd.

There are still cabins available on this cruise, but you need to secure yours as soon as possible in order to get the best choice of cabins at the lowest price.

There will be both piping and drumming workshops on board the ship, at absolutely NO COST to the students. Our band is picking up all the costs of the instructors and workshops. There will be at least three piping and three drumming workshops, and possibly more. In addition to the workshops, there will be numerous opportunities to have one or more private lessons from the instructors, in case you want some one-on-one work on a competition piece or to correct some problems you are fighting.

When booking your cabin, be sure to tell Carnival that you want to be linked to my booking number, 130HG5, so you will be included in all the activities we have planned.

Unlike in past years, there will be no public performance this year, due to restrictions installed by the cruise lines. However, there will be limitless opportunities to have a great time and see some exotic ports of call. The workshops will be held while we are at sea so not to interfere with activities while in port.

Give me a call ( 601) 489-7225 for more info, or visit our band web site at

No, John. The cost per day for an inside cabin is more like $65-70. Quite a bargain considering that you get not only the room, but all you can eat for 7 days, visits to three different foreign ports of call, free piping and drumming workshops, etc. That's really a great deal.

KCB, This is an annual event sponsored by Father of Waters Pipes and Drums, and is completely independent of Carnival Cruise Lines. We use Carnival because they have been so gracious in providing dedicated space on board the ship for our workshops. We use the port of New Orleans because it has such excellent airline connections to most parts of the country, and because there is so much to do in New Orleans prior to the cruise and afterwards.

Hey all, we've already got a thread on this here: and we even "stickied" it for you so that it'd stay on top. Lets keep all comments about it in that thread, shall we? Accordingly, I'm closing this thread.
