Hello Daniel,
that depends on the drum and one the drummer. Currently the new Andante drums have or can be supplied with the remo powermax heads. There is also the aquarian head which I like the sound off. Both heads are predampened, which is way handier The powermax are initally at least hard to keep in tune, as they keep stretching, but I suppose that does stop after a while. Any head will work in a bass drum, predampened or not, the important bit is the tuning of the drum. Predampened just means you dont have any damping to worry about. What note is your bass currently tuned to? Kind Regards Andy D |

Scott Currie have also started selling evans heads with adjustable pre dampening, not sure how they work or sound but I'm sure if you PM Scott he'll be happy to discuss them with you.
We currently use powermax on all out bass and tenors to great effect. We've also had aquarian skins on the bass which was our first foray into predampened heads. Great sounding skins too.

I use the powermax heads very good sound, used the Kilpatrick bass tuner to set up the drums, very impressed with balance of sound achieved over the bass section
