The City of Edinburgh Pipes & Drums is pleased to announce the inaugural PIPE MAJORS' WHEEL OF FORTUNE COMPETITION to be held at the Thomas Morton Hall (Leith Town Hall), Ferry Road, Leith, Edinburgh, on Saturday 18 November 2006 at 1pm.
The competition is of a very different format to most other solo piping competitions and aims to be a highly enjoyable day for competitors and spectators alike. The City of Edinburgh Pipes & Drums hope this contest will be enjoyable day for everybody, at a time of year when there are not a great deal of piping and drumming events taking place. We also hope to develop the contest in years to come. We look forward to seeing you there. If you have any queries, please email me at bagpipers@uk2.net Glyn Morris, City of Edinburgh Pipes & Drums

Sounds like an excellent night. Wish I could make it.
One question....why is it called the wheel of fortune? Is it like the TV programme where you have to guess names of things? |

Quote:
There was a wheel with 12 categories of tune on it. The "Golden Chanter" on the wheel was spun and the competitors had to play whatever tune category the golden chanter landed on.
