Default Braemar Pipe Band

What happened to this organization? I think they were based out of Ontario. I thought they had a few different bands on the go and that the organization was pretty big. I just tried to Google them and I can't seem to find them. Does anyone know what the deal is?

Red face

Hey Reid,

I was a member of this band for 3 years and I'm sad to say that the band fell apart at this time last year. I'm not sure what the reasoning was behind it.

Braemar had 3 different grade bands: 5, 4 and 3. 2 years ago, after the Grade 3 band won Champion Supreme, they were upgraded to Grade 2 for the 2005 season. Last year, however, the band only had Grade 5 and 4.

Unfortunately, the band doesn't exist under that name anymore...it's now called the Scottish Club of St. Catharines Pipe Band (or it was, the last time I checked).

Hope that helps.

Later,

B

Yes, seems a real waste that is disinigrated so quickly after a lot of work had been put into it!

It is very sad and disappointing when so much work has been put into something, only to have it all fall out from underneath everyone. I still can't get over the fact that the band doesn't exist anymore. While most of its members have moved on to bigger and better things, it's still sad that things aren't as they used to be.

If anyone wants to check it out, there's a video of Braemar's Grade 3 band on YouTube. It's a performance of their medley in the Montreal beer tent, after getting back-to-back wins at Maxville and Montreal.

+ YouTube Video

Without a doubt that was the most fun to play. I really miss that band allot and have not had a better time in a band since. It is too bad things turned out the way they did, but at least have good memories. Everytime I see that video and I still remember the feeling being in that circle in that beer tent playing that medley. What a rush.

Thanks for posting it Lina.
