I think the next line is:

Actually, limb comes before branch, being a larger circumpherenced piece of the tree, so

limb on the tree and the tree in the hole and the hole in the bog and the bog down in the valley-o

Then

branch on the limb and the limb on the tree and the tree in the hole and the hole in the bog and the bog down in the valley-o

I was most familiar with the "Irish Descendants" version and it goes like this: (Yes there is bird twice.)

but I think the original composer is dead so you can sing whatever version you want, or make up your own.
