The calendar is quite different in 2008.
Overseas bands can't use Bridge of Allan as their final pre-Worlds warmup like last year, because this year it's two weeks before the Worlds. Last year it was almost like the Worlds, because so many of the same bands were there. Looking at the Bridge of Allan draw, I see very few overseas bands. North Berwick is still a week prior to the Worlds and I see quite a few overseas bands there, though from the published draw it seems like many overseas bands are giving it a pass. For example (at least according to the published draws) the LA Scots, AlCal, and the Band Club are the only overseas G1 bands at North Berwick. What are the rest of the overseas G1 bands who are attending the Worlds (Aust HLrs, Toronto Pol, NZ Pol, Peel Pol, 78th, SFU) doing that day? Are they attending Dundonald? Dundonald's draw isn't shown on the RSPBA site (at least there's no draw link on the calendar page), so I'm just wondering. And are most overseas bands using Perth as the final warmup for the Worlds? Perth's draw, likewise, isn't linked. |
