Mass Bands

Ok lets stir the fire.

Some games pay mass bands to participate. Some do not or only pay some. Your band travels a good bit of distance to be at the games. Far enough you have to get a hotel room. The games are good for competition but not real nice to the bands. Your band competes and does so not for show but to try and walk away with a trophy. It takes time and stress to compete in the circle. Tuning issues, weather issues, equipment failures take their toil. The early mass bands are for the crowds and the new members. (New members you know the ones that can't wait to march on to that field and tangle their drones, they just have no clue yet as to the pain the arse that mass bands presents). Your band travels and must stay in a hotel and is one of those bands that does not get paid for mass bands. Now the pot stirring, ear bending, poo smelling question.

What is your bands obligation to perform for the crowds in mass bands? Why not just skip it and get your band ready for competition. Do you have an obligation to the masses? You've paid your entry fee to support the judges. You don't get paid to entertain. That's Alex Beaton's role.
